reflecting

there's something about a quiet sunday evening
that makes me feel so peaceful inside.
i feel like it's a time to reflect
on my week,
how i'm feeling,
what i've been doing,
and to look forward to the coming week
to think about what i want to do with the time ahead.

i've been giving myself as much time as needed
to adjust to my new way of life.
i have found that i can be a little delicate when it comes to change
and i have sometimes struggled with the new direction my life has taken
so i've been taking it slow
and allowing myself time to just
be.

i'm starting to feel that i'm ready to take on some new challenges,
and this week i'm going to focus on doing that.
i want to find a way to volunteer in my community,
and start working with kids again
(past volunteer jobs have included
working as an elementary class tutor
and helping kids in an inner-city school do science experiments)
and i'm excited to start really training again
for the vancouver 10km run coming up this spring.

but for now,
i'm relaxing with a cup of homemade chai tea,
lost in my thoughts,
enjoying the happiness i feel in my life right now,
making plans for the future,
listening to the click of dante's keys as he begins work on his thesis.

i love sunday evenings.

  2. I love Sunday evenings, too. There seems to be a lot of life reflections that go on Sundays. Wow. That is amazing you're going to run a 10 km run! I'm trying to get myself back to shape as well. You're so lucky you live in Vancouver! I go there lots, but I usually stay in the Richmond area. I would love to see more of Vancouver.

Also, thanks for the comment on my blog! :) I like yours A LOT.

  6. I need to learn a few things from these words you have written. I tend to look at Sunday evenings with dread that my beloved weekend has ended and the grind of a new work week is about to start. Time to re-think how I look at things...

  7. What a great way to see Sunday evenings... rather than having dread of the end of the beloved weekend, enjoy it!

  8. I'm new to your blog, but I love this post! I agree with some of the other commenters that I tend to dread Sunday evenings, but I like your perspective on it. We could definitely all use some time to pause and reflect.

  11. You're making me rethink Sundays -- they used to be my least favorite day of the week.
