monday inspiration

sometimes i feel self-conscious.
i get bogged down with the little things i don't like about myself,
and i start to feel awkward and uncomfortable around other people,
especially people i don't know very well,
or people i'm trying to make a good impression on.
but i've figured out a way to boost self-confidence...
before i leave the house,
i take a second to look in the mirror.
but before i make eye contact with my mirror-self,
i close my eyes and think about something that i really like about me.
i love how my eyes sparkle, and i think i have a very infectious smile.
i like my collar bone and the way my upper body looks strong
when i wear a tank top and a sports bra.
so i think about these things,
instead of thinking about how i look a little bloated
from eating fast food the night before,
or how my skin is a little red from the winter weather...
and guess what?
when i look in the mirror, i don't see bloated red skin,
i see a beautiful woman with a gorgeous neckline and sparkling eyes!

in a time that women are bombarded with images of
it's important to remember that you are a unique and beautiful individual
and that you have qualities, inside and out,
that make you shine.

next time you're feeling down about yourself,
try this little trick,
i promise it will give you a boost!
